To provide a safe, healthy and fun environment for individuals to learn and develop skating skills.

Our Club aims to deliver fun, challenging and affordable skating programs throughout the year in an environment that values personal best, leadership, community and recognition of skater accomplishments.

CanSkate offers the best curriculum in Canada. Our flagship learn-to-skate program has taught millions of Canadians to reach their recreational and competitive goals on the ice.

The CanSkate program is geared to beginners of all ages…children, adults, newcomers to Canada and athletes with a disability (AWAD). Whether you are looking to improve basic skating skills for figure skating, hockey, ringette or speed skating, or wish to skate for recreation, fitness or fun, CanSkate will get you there.

Conducted in a fun, friendly environment, the CanSkate program showcases a comprehensive series of balance, control and agility skills, using a nationally-tested and proven curriculum that supports skater success in developing stronger basic skills on the ice.

Millions of Canadians, including World and Olympic figure skating champions and National Hockey League stars, have taken their first steps on the ice with the CanSkate program. Offered at clubs and skating schools across Canada and delivered by NCCP coaches, CanSkate will help you realize your skating goals.

STAR 1-5

The STAR 1-5 program offers the best-in-class figure skating curriculum in Canada, targeting athletes looking for a future in the sport. Taught by Skate Canada NCCP coaches, the program introduces participants to the basic figure skating elements to create the foundation for singles, pairs, ice dance and synchronized skating.

All skaters in this program must have passed CanSkate Stage 6 or equivalent. Skaters may be any age. Adaptive skaters who have the required skating ability welcome.

STAR 6- GOLD

STAR 6- Gold is an assessment and event structure for skaters who completed the STAR 1-5 Program. This structure builds on the skills acquired in STAR 1-5 and introduces skaters to more advanced figure skating elements.

The Sioux Lookout Skating Club hosted Olympic and World Figure Skating Champion, Kurt Browning in September for a weekend long seminar. We were proud to have skaters from all across the Northwest Region as well as a Kurt Browning Family Skate for the community.

Our seminar focused on developing skills through direct instruction from Kurt Browning himself, strength training and dance instruction provided by local instructors, along with discussions addressing Stress, Healthy Body Image, Food and Nutrition hosted by trained professionals from Firefly, and the Northwestern Health Unit. Our presenters stepped up to share their knowledge, experiences, and expertise.

Star Skaters travelled to the Thunder Bay Open in March. It was great for our skaters to get out in front of the judges after a long break due to Covid-19 restrictions. Thank you to our Coaches and Skate Families for all their hard work and support.

Congratulations to our Star 5+ Skaters that participated in a Skate Canada Test Day recently. Special Thanks to Coach Lynn for preparing our skaters. Well done!
